RSL Soldiers Kokoda> About Brian Freeman
Brian Freeman epitomises the spirit of adventure. A former Special Forces Officer who served with the Australian Regular Army for just over 20 years, Brian deployed on the first aircraft into East Timor in 1999 as part of the INTERFET Multinational Force where his role was Operations Officer to General Peter Cosgrove. Over the past 10 years Brian has personally lead over 43 Kokoda expeditions and more than 140 adventures globally, from climbing the big mountains of the world to survival in the Kimberley and Pilbara to trekking on every continent including walking through the big game areas of Arica.
His adventure achievements include setting the world records for the fastest over and back Kokoda crossing and the fastest one way unsupported crossing of the Kokoda Trail (in 24 hours 59 minutes).
In 2010, Brian was part of a team of four that paddled sea kayaks from the tip of Cape York in Australia to mainland Papua New Guinea and then completed the Kokoda Trail, another record, all in under five days.
He has led everyone from Prime Ministers to business leaders to sporting greats on adventures across the globe. He is the guide of choice with absolute Worlds Best Practice risk management procedures and first-class implementation. He holds a 100% safety and success record for every client he has guided on Kokoda - this is a fact and cannot be claimed by any other operator or guide on Kokoda. In addition, he has long-standing relationships across the Kokoda Trail and a large amount of local knowledge.
Due to Brian’s long-standing history and relationship with the local Papua New Guinea people, he has been able to explore parts of the Kokoda where no others have been. Remarkably, in 2010, Brian discovered a completely untouched Lost Battlefield at Eora Creek. This discovery has already changed previously believed theories on aspects of the Kokoda campaign, and has renewed attention back to this important aspect of Australian and Japanese history. The Lost Battlefield will eventually be preserved as a living museum.

We are very proud of what our clients have to say about us:
I want to thank you and your team for making the past 10 days for both me personally, but also the IAA group such an incredible experience. In particular, your connection with the PNG villagers added a very positive dimension to the experience...
